The proposal was to extend and modernise the property to give it a fresh new look. A particular aspect to change was how the existing dormer widows extended to the side walls of the house. A new family room extension was created opening out onto the garden. The first floor space was used to create a master bedroom suite. The entrance into the house was opened up to provide a light and airy space creating a first floor gallery around the hallway. The existing dormer windows and roof were overhauled and finished using new concrete roof tiles and modern composite cladding. New grey double glazed windows were also installed. The clients were immensely impressed with the finished product.

Cowal View 2 – New attic truss roof and modernisation:

The existing roof of the house had constant issues with water ingress due to the low pitch and materials used. A new attic truss roof was proposed. As the client desired minimal disturbance to the existing house resulting in the new trusses not being supported by the house presented a few difficulties.

The solution provided was to create a new timber frame panel system around the outside of the existing building supported off new foundations. The timber panels were insulated and finished with a render system on proprietary render boards. New steel beams spanning the width of the house were fitted providing a central support for the new trusses.
